KwaDukuza Kings make it through to national basketball club championships

The KwaDukuza Kings basketball team continue to defy the odds and notch up consecutive wins.

In the recent interprovincial basketball championships held in Howick last weekend, the Kings went unbeaten to take home the spoils.

In an impressive run of results, they beat Mpumalanga-based teams Secunda Warriors (70 – 44) and The Chosen Few (81 – 30).

They then faced old foes from the recent KwaZulu-Natal championships, the PMB Warriors, narrowly edging them out 59 – 57 in the final.

This puts them into the conversation for the best club team in the country and the Kings are set to travel to Johannesburg for the finals of the National Club Championships later this week.

The 4 best teams from the respective interprovincial conferences will compete in a round robin format.

On September 4, the team faces the Cape Town Tigers at 9am and the Jozi Nuggets at 3pm.

The next day they face the Joby Knights at 11am with the grand final set to be held at 3pm.

If the Kings are to win all 4 games, they will have a chance to face the best teams from across the continent in the African Basketball League.

The team has won with little outside support and have no current sponsors to help them on their National Championship run.
