Real estate agent bowls iLembe Cricket Union a cash injection

Ilembe Cricket Union president, Desigan Pillay, was over the moon when the local league received R8 000 sponsorship from a real estate agent on Sunday.

Pillay said forming a partnership with Choprop KZN will go a long way in helping them groom players for the region.

The T20 A league will start on October 9 where 7 teams will compete including: Mandeni, Manor A, Oceanville, Dawnheights A, Pak International, United and Flipside.

“One of my goals is to unite our large area of iLembe by selecting talented cricketers from all our district municipalities. Our union team, the flagship of our district is playing in the KZN premier league.”

“Our team is a mixture of experience, youth and professionals as we have signed two provincial players in Otniel Bartman and Keegan Pietersen who is in the protea squad. We are also grateful to business houses like Choprop KZN with whom we have formed a partnership within the promotion of the game of cricket. We hope to continue to build a strong culture of cricket in schools and our community,” said Pillay.

Choprop KZN franchisee, Jemendra Haripershad said they felt it was important to support community sport, and cricket in particular.

“It is through sports that we hope to achieve unity and a sense of teamwork in our community. Participation in sport has numerous benefits and we hope to empower the youth and create a positive impact in their lives. We hope to see our youth grow in self-confidence and physical and mental well-being through their participation in cricket,” said Haripershad.
