Ballito runner blazes ahead in first ever LIV Village run!
The run itself formed part of a partnership between KZN Trail Running and LIV Village. LIV Village is a safe haven for orphaned and vulnerable children.
Ballito runner Nicole von Metzinger claimed second place in the first ever LIV Village’s LIV2Run series 5km trail run, clinching the spot from Charne Woodrup and coming in just behind Nita Kidd.
Although gruelling conditions greeted runners in the fundraiser event, scenic views around Hazelmere Dam were plentiful on October 23.

It didn’t much matter whether runners took on the 5, 13 or 19km routes, they were in for tough conditions with elevations respectively ranging from 185, 393 to 614m. The routes are a combination of jeep and single track.

Agreeing that conditions were tough, von Metzinger said she thoroughly enjoyed the run.
“I cannot wait for LIV Village to start doing more such trail runs,” said von Metzinger, who said she wholeheartedly supports the efforts of LIV Village.

Lindi Meyer, head of LIV2Run, said they were thankful for the support they received.
“The event was a great success, with almost 200 runners taking part in the inaugural race. The atmosphere was of such joy and life with so many comments on what a lovely morning it was running the trails.”
