Mixed fortunes for iLembe cricket veterans

Local cricket veterans recently strutted their stuff at the Gledhow sports field.

The iLembe veterans played two games, against Spartan Sporting and DHS Rhythm, with iLembe winning by 8 wickets against Spartan Sporting.

Spartans batted first and posted 94-4 in 20 overs.

Best batsmen were N Ramkalawan (35), S Ayob (20), S Kistasami (10) and L Govender (10).

Pick of the iLembe bowlers were M Iyer (2-32 in 4), Z Ali (1-8 in 3) and B Ismail (1-12 in 2).

In reply, iLembe reached the target (96-2) in 10.4 overs.

Leading the iLembe charge were Z Ali (34), S Maharaj (33) and A Maharaj (17).

In the second game, iLembe lost to DHS by a better run rate.

DHS recorded 208-8 in their allotted 50 overs, with MA Ismail scoring 60 runs, J Grewar 36, V Singh 24 and J Stride 22.

Best iLembe bowlers were R Mlongo (3-46 in 8), S Logenathan (1-16 in 6) and S Mlongo (1-18 in 8).

The 2nd innings was affected by rain, forcing a revised target of 84 in 20 overs,

iLembe reached 71-6 in 20 and the best DHS bowlers were N Makwira (2-11 in 3) and J Stride (2-15 in 5).
