Brett Swanepoel goes full throttle to win motorcycle cross-country race
The victory places him in the overall lead of the national championship in both the OR2 class and overall standings.
Ballito off-road motorcyclist Brett Swanepoel won the 2nd round of the Trademore Group national motorcycle cross-country 2022 series.
Held in Dalton, south of Greytown on Saturday, Swanepol had a great race, going full throttle on his 350 Husqvarna to finish 10 minutes ahead of the 2nd place finisher.
The race was run over 4 laps of 40km and Brett’s winning time was 3hrs 25min and 18sec.
This win places him in the overall lead of the national championship in both the OR2 class and overall standings.

He said the track had a variety of terrain conditions, from muddy to rocky and forests and cane breaks thrown into the mix.
“It was wet, muddy and very demanding because of all the rain we had. This made it tough in sections where one could have lost a lot of time, but fortunately for me everything ran smoothly from the start of the race.
“I managed the race well to keep the momentum and end strong. My bike set-up was perfect and I really enjoyed the run,” said Swanepoel.
OR2 rival Scott Heygate gave his title prospects a shot in the arm in second place aboard his OR2 KTM, while Mike Pentecost’s Kawasaki took the OR1 win ahead of class rivals Hayden Louw (Yamaha), Travis Teasedale’s (Gas Gas) and William Slater on a KTM.
