No stopping Salt Rock paddle ace Hank McGregor

The race was over two laps, with McGregor biding his time until the opportunity for a lead came in a downwind section.

Fresh off his fourth consecutive national surfski title win, Hank McGregor comfortably claimed the honours in the first race of the Durban winter series at Addington Beach on Sunday.

“I had a great race against a quality field and I had to go out hard.”

“I got away early from Matthew Bouman, Matt Coetzer and Luke Nisbet on the first downwind leg and then just worked on the gap and it increased throughout the race,” he said.

McGregor eventually finished more than two minutes ahead of Bouman in second, while first placed woman Michelle Burn ended just over 8 minutes behind.
