Presented by Volcom, Fallen and Groundswell Skate & Surf, the competition was marked by tight encounters.
Slick moves ruled at the Ballito Skate Bowl at Hilary Park last Friday where top skaters from across the country battled it out for the honours in the Ballito Pro Skate Jam.
The top spot in the open division was claimed by Durban North’s Jamie de Villiers, who won a cash prize of R7 500. He pipped Murray Sharp (second) and Josh Beukes (third).

“The hosts created a good vibe for the crowd which really hyped up the skaters to push the limits. I’m really stoked with my win, my first bowl victory, and I’m really amped for next year’s event,” said De Villiers.
Taking home the Bravery Award was Jamie Charlton-Jones, while the Local Ripper award went to Joshua Falkner, both scoring Fallen Footwear hampers to the value of R1 500 each.

In the girls category, Jessica Louw scored first position ahead of Caetlyn King and Molly Asiphe.

Event organiser and O’Neill South Africa brand director, Paul Canning, spoke on behalf of Volcom and Fallen Footwear, saying they were proud to be part of the Ballito Pro Skate Jam which returned for a second time as part of the Ballito Pro.

“The inaugural event last year was a massive success and this year has been even better. It’s an event we see growing and becoming a bigger part of The Ballito Pro year-on-year,” he said.
