R95 000 raised for Sables Creatures at Umhlali Country Club golf day
Organisers hope the success of the event could lead to the golf day becoming an annual fundraiser for the charity.
A groundswell of community support ensured that Sables Creatures’ veterinary bills would be paid off in full.
The support came in the form of a golf day, organised by Craig Bergset, with Sables the sole beneficiary of the incredible R95 000 raised.
Thirty-four four balls teed off at Umhlali Country Club on July 22, with every hole sponsored and a few exciting hole-in-one prizes on offer too.
Unfortunately, neither the R100 000 prize from Risk Sure nor the R20 000 prize from RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors agent, Johnny Mutton, were taken with an ace.
Bergset thanked the more than 70 local sponsors for their help on individual holes, with donations and prize sponsorships.
“The main objective was to raise money for Sables, who go into the surrounding area to collect dogs that need care and as one knows, the vet bills can be huge. The money raised was paid to the three local vets used by Sables, with the balance being left in credit to help them with future work,” said Bergset.
Bergset hopes that after the success of this day, it could become an annual fundraiser for the charity.
