North Coast enduro youngsters win big in Clarens

The team of four all four scored more than 90 points each, which earned them double gold medals, the only U13s in the event to do so.

A fearsome foursome of young enduro bikers took on the gruelling Mega Madalas race between Clarens and Fouriesburg in the Free State last weekend, bringing back eight gold medals between them.

Benjamin (12) and James Goble (11), alongside Sean (9) and Cameron Peacock (9) all rode in their first multiple day enduro event.

Over the course of Friday and Saturday, riders completed more than 70km in difficult terrain, requiring solid technique and bravery from the youngsters.

But with the help of experienced coach Brett Swanepoel, the group pushed through and delivered fantastic results in the junior sections.

The four young North Coast enduro riders were in top form.

The event was split into two individual days of racing, one which focused on endurance and the other on bike handling.

On Friday, the competitors covered two loops of the 22km blue route, while six loops of the 4.5km green track welcomed them on Saturday.

All four scored more than 90 points each, which earned them double gold medals for achievement, the only U13s in the event to do so.
