North Coast footballers face off in first Footy tournament of the year
After leaving behind the competition on their respective sides of the draw, Mighty Ballito Scratch and Dent faced off against the Crouch Potatoes in the much anticipated final.
The North Coast’s best footballers kicked off 2023 with a bang, bringing silky skills and lethal finishing to the first tournament of the year at the Townsend Park Footy pitch on Saturday.
Eight teams entered the gauntlet, facing off in action-packed knockout matches to decide the finalists.
“The level of soccer on display was as high as the temperature on the day, with the on-field action keeping the appreciative crowd on the edge of their seats. It was awesome to have everyone back on the Footy field,” said Footy owner, Kyle Crichton.
After leaving behind the competition on their respective sides of the draw, Mighty Ballito Scratch and Dent faced off against the Crouch Potatoes in the much anticipated final.
“It was an end-to-end affair with each team trading goals to end the game at four goals apiece and take it into golden goal. The Crouch Potatoes were the first to find the back of the net and walked away champions on the day,” said Crichton.
The next tournament at Footy will be the Restaurant Cup on Monday, January 30 from 11am-3pm, with leagues returning from February 6.
