Umhlali Prep pupil Saskya Kistnasami wins gold at SA Biathlon Championships

The versatile athlete set a personal best time in the 50m freestyle swim.

Umhlali Prep pupil Saskya Kistnasami won a gold medal at the 2023 SA Biathlon Championships in Stellenbosch, representing KwaZulu-Natal in the girls U13 category.

Biathlon involves running and swimming over different distances in various age groups.

Kistnasami recorded a personal best time of 29.70 seconds in the 50m freestyle swim and clocked 2 minutes and 34 seconds for the run.

She also won a silver medal in the long jump at the 2022 SA Sub-Youth Junior Athletics Championships in Pretoria.

In addition, she is a member of the Umhlali Prep swimming team that won the prestigious Girls DnD A League Gala in 2023.

Kistnasami’s success is a result of her hard work, supported by her family and friends, the school, and coaches Dominique Donner-Rod, Luke Verwey, Emily Visagie, Lynique Beneke, Philani Majola, Cheyne Croxford, and Paul and Robyn Bees.

Kistnasami has been selected to represent KZN at a SA schools gala later this month.
