Umhlali Prep dominates rugby curtain-raiser

Umhlali Prep's First XV rugby team scored an impressive 27 unanswered points against the KZNRU Ibutho-Mark Godefroy U13 team at the Kearsney festival curtain-raiser.

Umhlali Prep’s rugby youngsters put on a strong performance in last week’s Kearsney Easter Festival curtain-raiser to set the tone for the tournament.

Facing off against the KZNRU Ibutho-Mark Godefroy U13 team, Umhlali’s First XV scored 27 unanswered points to claim victory on the opening day.

The team was one of six junior schools selected to play curtain-raisers for the main games of the prestigious festival, with Umhlali playing the first of the entire tournament last Thursday.

Given the size of the event, the youngsters got a chance to use top-quality facilities and play in front of a sizeable crowd, all of which made for a memorable game for the players.
