iLembe surfers take on SA Champs
The event runs from Tuesday until Sunday and the iLembe Surf Riders team will be hoping to be build on a third place team finish last year.
Twenty-six of iLembe’s best surfers are in the midst of pulsating national competition at the Tidy Towns SA Championships.
Hosted at St Mike’s on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, the event draws some of the country’s best surfers to compete for national glory.
This year, iLembe’s team counts 21 men and four women in its ranks, who will compete across eight categories for both individual and team points.
The event runs from Tuesday until Sunday and the iLembe Surf Riders team will be hoping to be build on a third place team finish last year.
Some surfers are registered in multiple categories, such as the Open Men and a specific age group, but the general team make up can be found below;
Open Men
Andrew Banks, Fika Ngubane, Karl Steen, Justin Sykes, Liam de Villiers and Ryan Balfour.
Open Women
Gabi Lailvaux, Tamarys de Maroussem, Olivia Brand and Sophie Bell.
Over-35 Men
Dustin Brown, Steve Theunissen and Mark Campbell.
Over-40 Men
Allan Johns, Ant Donaldson and Darran Knutsen.
Over-45 Men
Ryan Froude, Chris Coates, Scott Rutherford and Lyle Botcher.
Over-50 Men
Warren Blackmore and James Taylor.
Over-55 Men
Murray Niven and Chris Baum.
Over-60 Men
Fred le Roux and Chris Morris.
