Eden upset Yachts of Fun’s winning streak
Eight first half points from newcomer Michael Nel helped to create a 14-3 half-time lead, with Yachts of Fun facing an uphill battle to get back into the game.
After being delayed by a week because of rain, Ballito Basketball League’s young stars showed they were raring to return to competition last Friday.
The fourth round of matches were played at Reddam House Ballito, with Yachts of Fun’s (YOF) white and blue teams and Reddam’s own squad entering the day’s competition undefeated.
Game 1 set the tone for the rest of the day, with a close-fought match between YOF blue and Eden blue.
An early YOF lead was soon narrowed by a chasing Eden team led by Sonny Zungu’s 11 points, but it ultimately proved to be enough in a 24-17 win for the YOF team.
The league’s top scorer again dominated for Reddam in game two, as Faye Harrison claimed 22 of Reddam’s points on their way to a 26-12 win over Beaches.
In the game of the day, Eden white went on a giant-killing mission to try and break YOF white’s unbeaten run.

The final match saw RA Padayachee and Shakaskraal Primary search for their first wins, with RA Padayachee grinding out a defensive 9-8 victory.
