Dawnheights claim iLembe cricket league title

Saieshan Logenathan was the league's top scorer and 'master blaster' winner with 185 runs, while the bowler of the season prize went to Sachen Chetty, who claimed 10 wickets.

iLembe Cricket Union’s Prestige T20 League came to a thrilling end last weekend.

Hosting teams from across the iLembe district, the competition brought some fantastic performances in weeks past before the final matches were played on Saturday.

It was a league format, so points were accumulated across the season with the overall score deciding the winner.

Tongaat’s Dawnheights Cricket Club and KwaDukuza’s Manor Cricket Club both entered the weekend with a chance at glory, but it was Dawnheights who held on to win by just one log point.

Saieshan Logenathan was the league’s top scorer and ‘master blaster’ winner with 185 runs, while the bowler of the season prize went to Sachen Chetty, who claimed 10 wickets.

iLembe Cricket Union president, Desigan Pillay, thanked Jemendra Haripershad from Prestige Real Estate who sponsored the league and individual prizes.
