The Grade 6 pupil has always shown a passion for athletics and swimming.

Umhlali Preparatory School pupil, Saskya Kistnasami, was recently victorious at the World Biathle and Triathle Championships in Bali, Indonesia.

The 12-year-old secured a bronze medal in the individual biathle final and contributed to the gold-winning performance of the SA Girls U13 team.

Biathle is a sub-sport of the pentathlon.

The championships challenged participants with a sequence of a 400m run, a 50m swim, and another 400m run.

Battling through the sandy beaches of Bali and tackling her first open-water ocean swim, Saskya exhibited sheer determination and courage, finishing among the top three in a fiercely competitive field of international athletes.
