Dawnheights Cricket Club’s stellar form continues with crushing win over Tongaat

The win puts them in strong a position for promotion.

Dawnheights Cricket Club are enjoying a purple patch of form, claiming another victory against Tongaat at the weekend.

Some fine cricket was on show in the KZN Promotional League fixture played at Gledhow on Saturday, where Dawnheights won the toss and chose to bat.

It proved a good captaincy decision as the men from KwaDukuza looked comfortable at the crease from the first ball.

Although no huge individual score was registered, five batsmen got a start and made at least 30, with Robin Bhardwaj top scoring on 45.

The team batted out their allotted 50 overs and reached 271 for 9.

It was then the turn of the bowlers, who did not disappoint – scuttling Tongaat for just 95.

Man of the match, Shaldon Maduray.

Shaldon Maduray was the chief destroyer, claiming a decisive five wicket haul while allowing just 28 runs in his eight over spell.

Bhardwaj capped another all-round performance with solid figures of 3 for 33.

Dawnheights have now reached third spot on the league table and are making a real push for promotion to the Premier League next season.
