Villagers triumph on and off the field

The Ballito Dolphins faced log-leaders Hillcrest Villagers last Saturday.

Visiting Hillcrest Villagers brought more than an exciting rugby game to Ballito at the weekend.

After facing off against the in-form Ballito Dolphins, the men from up the hill donated a series of essential items for the victims of the recent tornado which tore through Tongaat and surrounds.

s donated blankets, clothing, toiletries and other essentials to help the victims and their families, which were gratefully received and distributed by Tongaat community member, Alec Harker.

“It is beyond incredible that an organisation that isn’t even from our area showed such generosity and sense of community by gathering this donation,” said Harker.

As for the rugby itself, the Villagers showed why they are log leaders in the first division, delivering two bruising encounters with the Dolphins 1st and 2nd XVs.

Both games were closely fought, but the Villagers ran out deserved double winners, 15-5 in the 2nd XV clash and 27-11 in the 1st.
