Polo ponies and pizzazz at Ballito polo club fundraiser
Picnic at the Polo drew a chic crowd to Oaklands.
Picnic at the Polo hosted by the Ballito Polo Club on Saturday was the perfect blend of sport and style.
The open field at Oaklands Equestrian Estate in Umhlali was transformed into a colorful and chilled outdoor setting with attendees dressed to the nines.
Fashion and glamour were on show and there was plenty to eat and drink from local vendors.
The tone was set with the curtain-raiser game, which saw Ballito Polo club members going head to head in a friendly match between La Natividad Ballito Team vs Ballito Farmers Market, which ended in a score of 3-1.
The main round-robin games then began with BGM Polo vs Nike Pillay Inc., Ottawa vs Nike Pillay Inc., and the final showdown between Ottawa vs BGM Polo. BGM won the overall tournament by defeating Ottawa with a score of 6-5.
The event was a fundraiser for the building of a full-sized polo field, stables and a club facility.
“Going forward we want to host provincial tournaments and international players,” said event organiser Nikki Tyack.
Picnic at the Polo is hosted twice a year with the next event set for November.
