Ballito teen swimmer claims eight medals in Eswatini zonal competition

Our Lady of Fatima’s Saskya Kistnasami is an aquatic athlete to watch.

Saskya Kistnasami, earned eight medals while representing South Africa at the Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships, held in Eswatini last week.

The 14-year-old Grade 8 pupil at Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School competed in five individual events and three relays.

She claimed gold in the 100m breaststroke, silver in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

In the relay events, Saskya contributed to South Africa’s dominance by helping her team secure gold in the 4x50m freestyle relay, the 4x100m medley relay and the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Her mother, Yogandree Ramsamy, expressed gratitude to the community and coaches for their support, crediting Ashton Swimming Academy coaches Luke Verwey, Mel Lawrence, Charl Crous and Emily Visagie for their role in Saskya’s development.
