Ballito Royals FC U10s claim cup victory in Durban

The young team kept their cool through some tough games in the knockout stages.

The Ballito Royals’ U10 Gold team shot their way to a thrilling victory in the GDLFA Shield tournament last weekend.

Hosted at Danville Park on Saturday morning, the tournament drew dozens of teams from across the Greater Durban Local Football Association (GDLFA) to compete for a once-off cup.

The Royals endured a few tense knockout games, edging past Virginia FC in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals after drawing 1-1 in regulation time. That set up a final against Westville Old Boys, where the Royals clinched a deserved 1-0 victory in Durban.

The U10 Gold side were the only Royals team to claim tournament silverware, but all squads remain in action in the ongoing GDLFA league. Visit ballitoroyalsfc.com to find out more.
