The Dolphin Coast Squash Club is celebrating a record year after more than doubling participation in its annual Summer League, highlighting the growing popularity of the sport locally.

The 2026 Summer League, which ran from January 27 to March 26, attracted more than 100 players of all skill levels, up from just 45 competitors in 2023.

Santova claimed the Tuesday League title with 85 points, while Ballito ISP topped the Thursday League standings with 81 points.

The club also crowned Mark Bishop as the Dolphin Coast Squash (DCS) Close champion. The DCS Close, held from April 1 to 23, serves as the club’s ranking tournament to determine the top squash player on the Dolphin Coast each year.

Club chairman Scott Isaacs said the impressive growth reflected the welcoming atmosphere at the club.

“We have a thriving community, and much of that is down to our players really enjoying the social side of the sport. It’s a great way to meet new people and make friends, and we welcome and encourage everyone on the Dolphin Coast to give it a try,” he said.

The club’s Winter League is currently under way, with matches played every Tuesday and Thursday until August 27. Spectators are welcome to attend and watch some of the region’s top squash players in action.

Looking ahead, the club is preparing to host the South African Country Districts Tournament next year, which will bring leading players from across the country to the North Coast for a week of competition.
