The community turned out in support of the Dolphin Coast Warriors’ annual golf day fundraiser at Umhlali Country Club on Wednesday, July 29, held under the theme ‘Every Swing Feeds a Family’.

Funds were raised through four-ball entries, corporate sponsorships and an auction featuring memorabilia, including Colin Montgomerie’s original caddie bibs from the 1998 and 1999 Million Dollar Golf Challenge. A week-long stay at Champagne Sports Resort was also auctioned, selling for R15 000.

Sharks rugby players Zirk Meyer, Janco Purchase, Ross Braude and Kerron van Vuuren took part in the event as celebrity golfers.

Duval Dorfling, Piet de Necker, Wayne Oberholzer and Max Badenhorst won the overall four-ball competition. Fiona Crago, Susie Conlan, Sue Ellis and Sharon Bower finished third overall and were the winning women’s four-ball.

Sharon Bower won the longest drive on the 10th hole, while Eric Geldenhuys claimed the closest-to-the-pin prize on the 18th.

Every player received a prize.

The Dolphin Coast Warriors thanked the sponsors, Umhlali Country Club and all participants for supporting the fundraiser, which raises funds to assist families in need across the North Coast.
