Ballito aerial gymnasts soar to national medals in Rustenburg

The group represented local studios Flipside Aerial and Aerial Flow, as well as KwaZulu-Natal.

Seven aerial gymnasts from Ballito soared to a series of well-deserved medals at the recent South African Championships of Performing Arts.

The group represented local studios Flipside Aerial and Aerial Flow, as well as KwaZulu-Natal, at the Rustenburg Civic Centre between September 25 and October 4.

Evgenia Bashford, Portia Ngwane, Kassia Wills, Kayla Ansell, Mila Nidd, Hunter Porter and Scarlett van Rensburg competed across three disciplines: aerial silks, aerial hammock and aerial net. They all earned provincial colours in aerial arts for their efforts.

Nidd also won gold in the aerial open (net) category, Ansell claimed silver in aerial hammock and Porter earned bronze in aerial open (net).
