Umhlali boy Philip de Charmoy, who plays basketball for the South Africa U16 team has earned four caps for his country in the Afro Basketball Championship international qualifiers.
The grade 10 pupil at St Charles High School represented his country in the matches held last week in Gabarone, Botswana, and took to the court with his national teammates to secure four wins out of four against Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
This means that the South Africa team has successfully qualified for the Afro Championship to be hosted in Mali next month, hopefully returning home as African champions.
