Curro Salt Rock community unites for Midmar Mile challenge

A friendly challenge among teachers evolved into a community-wide effort at Curro,

What began as a friendly Midmar Mile challenge among teachers quickly snowballed into a Curro Salt Rock community endeavour involving pupils and parents.

The eventual goal was to assemble a group of at least 50 participants to undertake the challenge, at the same time commemorating the school’s 10th anniversary.

Training began in September last year with only five staff members, but momentum steadily built over the ensuing months to swell the ranks.

Swimmers as young as eight and veterans up to 65 hit the water two weekends ago, backed up by generous sponsorship and logistical support from Brett Michielin of Mozambik Ballito and Ryan Lugg of Renewable Plumbing and Solar Experts.

Despite challenging weather conditions, participants exhibited remarkable determination to finish the race.
