Curro Salt Rock hosts KZN Hockey Challenge tournament

Nine schools will do battle in the regional competition to qualify for the finals in July.

The 2024 SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge’s Durban North regional tournament will be hosted for the first time by Curro Salt Rock on their astro turf this Saturday.

Nine schools will be vying for the honours and a place in the grand finals at St Mary’s DSG in Kloof on July 20 and 21.

Battling it out on Saturday will be Our Lady of Fatima, Curro Salt Rock, Crawford La Lucia, Reddam House Umhlanga, Durban North College, Danville Park Girls’ High School, Ashton International College, Northlands Girls’ High and Crawford North Coast.

There will be an early start to get through the busy programme of 19 matches, with the first match between Ashton International College and Ashton North Coast kicking off at 7.15am. Match duration will be 20 minutes.

There are back-to-back regionals this weekend with the Challenge also heading to Westville Girls’ High for the Highway Regional on Sunday.

7.15 am – Ashton International vs Crawford North Coast (Pool B).
7.37 am – Curro Salt Rock vs Redham House Umhlanga (Pool A).
8.21 am – Curro Salt Rock vs Crawford La Lucia (Pool A).
9.10 am – Ashton International vs Northlands Girls High (Pool B).
9.32 am – Curro Salt Rock vs Our Lady of Fatima (Pool A).
10.16 am – Crawford North Coast vs Northlands Girls High (Pool B).
11.15 am – Ashton International vs Danville Girls High (Pool B).
12.21 pm – Crawford North Coast vs Danville Girls High (Pool B).
12.43 pm – Curro Salt Rock vs Durban North College (Pool A).
1.27 pm – Semi-finals: Winner Pool A vs Runner-up Pool B; Winner Pool B vs Runner-up Pool A.
2.11 PM – Final.
