Ashton International College Ballito’s 1st XI stars will soon shoot for victory at the elite SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge grand finals.

Held at St Mary’s D.S.G. on July 26 and 27, the finals mark the culmination of months of regional competition, with ten division winners competing for overall glory. It is the premier girls’ school hockey tournament in the province.

Ashton’s girls will be competing at the grand finals for the first time since 2016, hoping to improve on their previous best finish of seventh at their fourth attempt. They qualified in memorable fashion by defeating Our Lady of Fatima to claim the Durban North Regional title in April.

The competing schools include the hosts and six-time winners St Mary’s D.S.G., as well as 2011 champions St Anne’s College. The remaining contenders – Ferrum High School, Wartburg Kirchdorf School, Epworth School, Felixton College, St Patrick’s College, Maris Stella School and Kingsway High School – will all be aiming to secure their first title alongside Ashton.
