Each of the managers referred to in your article have served the Kwadukuza municipality, for more than 20 to 30 years (Traffic management an ‘animal farm’, Courier August 1).
They started from humble beginnings working as traffic wardens and also fire fighters, who could be called onto duty at any time of day or night, often risking their lives to save others.
Through many years of tireless service and dedication they have been placed in the positions they are in today. They are respected members of the community and their subordinates have always held them in high esteem. They have never abused their positions of authority.
They are strong pillars of our community epitomising character traits of honesty and integrity. These men have devoted their lives to their jobs. It is sad today that such malicious accusations can be made about these managers only in pursuit of selfish gain.
It is also sad that you have printed this article without the responses of the managers that you have so boldly defamed. Responsible journalism requires that these persons should have been contacted for their comment.
You have failed further in reporting that these are mere allegations unsubstantiated, and that the matter is currently under investigation.
We salute these gentlemen for the years of blood, sweat and tears that they have devoted to their jobs, this has surely not gone unnoticed by the community.
Gentlemen hold your heads up high, in the words of Nelson Mandela:
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

Everyone a lawyer. The traffic wardens made the accusations and we reported them. We also sought comment from their employer, the mayor, and reported his statement that the matter is under investigation – Editor.
