Five things to do on the Dolphin Coast this weekend
From music to art to volleyball, here's what's happening this weekend.
Besides going to the beach for a swim or surf, running along the promenade or enjoying some retail therapy, here’s what you can look forward to this weekend on the Dolphin Coast.
1. Night Market

A firm favourite for end-of-month Fridays, the Litchi Orchard Night Market will be happening tonight from 5pm to 9pm at the Litchi Orchard in Salt Rock.
James Freedom and Gavin Ferguson will be making some sweet tunes to go with the relaxed vibe and great food and drinks. R20 gets you in, kids under 5 are mahala.
2. Fun at the Fair

On Saturday, the proudly South African band Freshlyground will be jamming at the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society’s Charity Fair.
The fair runs till Sunday so make sure to go there for some fun and even more musical entertainment.
The children will also enjoy The Musical Circus by X-Treme Entertainment with comedy and magic shows, the popular police K9 Dog Show and Eddie Chetty’s Fun Fair.
3. Let your imagination take flight

An array of art in different mediums will be on exhibition in Sheffield on Saturday and Sunday.
Paintings, ceramics, beadwork, wooden sculptures and much more.
Go and check out the creative talents at 33 Colwyn Drive in Sheffield Beach from 9am to 4.30pm.
4. Beautiful bonsais

This one isn’t on the Dolphin Coast but if you don’t mind taking a bit of a drive, go and visit the Kengai Bonsai Kai annual show on Saturday and Sunday in Hillcrest at the Hillcrest Primary School, 17 Emoyeni Drive.
There will be an impressive variety of bonsai trees on show with demonstrations and questions answered by the experts on hand.
There will also be trees, pots and accessories for sale. There is an admission fee of R20, but kids under 12 don’t have to pay entrance.
5. Beach volleyball

To end off your weekend, don’t forget about Furever Pet Rescue’s third charity volleyball event at Salmon Bay, Ballito on Sunday from 11am.
Grab the sunscreen and go show your support for the players and this fantastic organisation.
