Three tips for fresh skin
With winter's harsh conditions, here are some tips to look after your skin.
Having beautiful skin and keeping it that way without spending a fortune seems impossible, but it needn’t be.
Somatologist Juanene Boshoff is the owner of Polished in Ballito and gives three easy skin-saving tips.
“Breakfast is important, as the first meal of the day and should contain essential fatty acids, which help to slow down inflammation that accelerates fine lines, sagging and blotchiness,” she said.
She added that nuts are great and tuna or salmon for lunch or dinner is also good for your skin.
“Going to a somatologist or dermatologist regularly or at least annually will help you troubleshoot your current skin care routine. They will also advise you in choosing the best products for your skin.”
Lastly, moisturising is a must.
According to Boshoff, as weather conditions change, you should change your skin care products, because what works in summer will not necessarily work in winter.
“An oil based moisturiser is better than a water based one, as oil will create a protective layer on the skin to retain moisture. Make sure to choose a non-clogging oil, like avocado or almond oil.”
With these three easy tips, your skin will look healthier and younger, without needing a facial every week.
