Comedy night for puppy plight

Support Puppy S.O.S and don't miss out on this fun fundraising event.

Get ready for a hilarious night out coupled with Mozambican flavour and the chance to win exciting prizes, all in the name of man’s best friend.

Mozambik’s Brett Michielin has joined forces with the Ballito based Puppy S.O.S organisation to offer a comedy fundraiser night, featuring Durban funnyman Jem Atkins, which will leave you in stitches and will give more young pups a chance for a better life.

“I have adopted two puppies from Puppy S.O.S. KZN and seeing that we have never done an animal fundraiser, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to help them,” said Michielin.

Before the laughter begins there will be an auction, which boasts grand prizes, ranging from a one night stay for two including breakfast at the luxurious Coco De Mer Boutique Hotel, to art and photoshoot vouchers.

Entrance is R70, which will go directly to Puppy S.O.S and ten percent of the night’s turnover will also be donated to them.

David Hanson from Puppy S.O.S KZN has currently got 15 puppies needing loving homes and owes R28 000 in vet bills.

Normally they care fur between 20 and 40 pups, but they have had to turn away puppies in need as they simply do not have the funding at the moment.

“David relies purely on fundraising, which is not easy because it is horrible asking people for money and although we try not to ask, reality is that without money, he cannot help puppies,” said his partner Kevin Taylor.

Besides needing money for the bills, Puppy S.O.S KZN needs foster homes, as keeping them all safe, warm and healthy until they have found forever homes is only possible with the help of other animal lovers.

“There are absolutely no costs involved in the fostering of puppies, as Puppy S.O.S KZN supplies the food and covers the veterinary costs, so we just need people with time and love for puppies who have had a rough start in life,” said Taylor.

Hanson has dedicated his life to the little abandoned, unwanted or abused furballs and spends all his time rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing them.
