‘The Cousin’ is coming to town
Barry Hilton will be in Salt Rock for Vision 153's fundraiser.
Legendary South African comedian, Barry Hilton, is heading for Salt Rock for one night only in June.
Charity organisation, Vision 153, have booked the Linc theater for this exciting event on June 26, which is also the first night of the July school holidays.
Inspired by comedians Richard Pryor and Billy Connolly, Hilton’s comedy is best described as observational, satirical and physical. He is renowned for his hilarious facial expressions, incredible animal impressions and crazy physical movements. His new show, Barry Hilton Live, is guaranteed to thrill both die-hard fans and first timers.
Hilton’s child friendly comedy appeals to people of all ages and backgrounds, so it is not surprising that sold out signs are up weeks before show opening dates.
Vision 153 is dedicated to fight poverty by taking care of orphans, widows, and the abused and neglected. Proceeds from the show will go towards building a village for orphans and their surrogate mothers.
“We believe in making a difference and challenge you to join us,” said Vision 153’s Gillian von Buddenbrock.
Recently, Vision 153 has set up a fence at Sondelani crèche so the kids could have an enclosed area to play safely. They are also providing food for Melville Hospice patients after learning that their fridges were empty and earlier this year they managed to get a desperately needed tumble dryer, clothes and toys donated to Word of Hope crèche.
Every Friday Umhlali Preparatory and Dolphin Coast Pre-Primary donate bread, jam and butter to Vision 153 who then make sandwiches and hand them out to the community. Annually, these two schools donate hundreds of blankets and Easter eggs for the organisation’s mission.
“We are ever grateful for the continued support from Astra Russell and Jenny Keegan and their teams,” said Von Buddenbrock.
The money brought in through their March fundraiser was used to arrange panty packs that will be delivered to high school girls in Groutville on June 2.
Tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za at a cost of R200 and it is important to note that seating will be theatre style so there will be no tables. Seating is also unreserved so arrive early to secure the seats you want. Food and drinks will be sold as well as some really good coffee.
