Restaurant Review: We Brew

Our resident foodie David Hoehler reviews We Brew in Ballito.

We Brew is a little coffee shop that has opened at Monza Park down the road from Hirsch’s.

I have eaten there a few times as it’s quite easy to just pop in without having to fight for parking like many other places around Ballito.

The food is extremely well priced. We tried the range of burgers that they had on offer.

I had the venison burger, which to my memory is the first one I have seen in Ballito. It was delicious! It came with roasted pepper, which added a nice dimension. Chef and owner Raymond de Bruyn also adds a bit of beef mince to the patty that adds that bit of fattiness that venison lacks.

We also tried the buffalo chicken burger. I am not quite sure what he puts in that sauce but its a winner!

The beef burger was also top notch and is well worth the money. The only thing that I would have liked to see was some chips to go with it, as it left me a bit hungry. But Raymond has informed me that they have just added chips to compliment all their burgers.

On a Friday Raymond does his ‘White Boy Bunny’. The fact that he is a “white boy” and can pull of a decent curry is impressive. I have tried over the years to make a good curry and I still can’t get it to taste like a proper Indian curry. Raymond gets it pretty close. It was not as heavy as a normal bunny, which was great because I find a traditional bunny just too much food.

Although they ran out of some items on the menu when we visited, Raymond was quickly on hand to make a plan and suggest great alternatives.

If you are looking for a quick convenient meal We Brew is worth a try.
