WATCH: SA’s Got Talent star serenades Ballito
Young boy plays for friends of Jaime Ernst.
Friends and guests of Villa Jaime bed and breakfast in Ballito were treated to a special live performance last Wednesday, September 23, when a young musical prodigy shared his gift.
The star of the show was 12-year-old Henno William from Pretoria, who recently stole the stage in the country’s first ever golden buzzer performance on South Africa’s Got Talent (SAGT).
William had the judges and members of the audience standing in applause when the golden confetti was raining down on him. He is tipped to continue to impress with his popular piano and vocals combo in the competition’s semi-finals next month, October 18.
The rising young artist played a number of tracks ranging from blues, to rock ballads for an audience consisting of host and owner of Villa Jaime, Jaime Ernst, former Miss World, Penny Coelen Rey and a group of Ballito residents.
When asked how he felt about stepping onto stage in front of so many people, William said that it felt like a dream come true.
“I would say my greatest musical influence is Freddy Mercury because I also want to be a musician with a lasting legacy,” said William, whose musical career began at the age of six when he started piano lessons.
William, who also writes his own songs, said that before he entered SAGT, he had a year and a half of professional piano lessons to fine tune his skills on the keys.
“I really enjoy blending genres together, like with rock and opera, for example, but I love being on stage.”
With six years of piano and vocals training under his belt, William said he is “very excited” to step onto stage again and do what he loves most.
