Foodies Market goes down a treat
Food and fabulous coffee, all you need on a Saturday!
Scores of residents and visitors to Ballito flocked into the Lifestyle Shopping Centre for the monthly Foodies Market.
Owners of small businesses set up their stalls from Zara’s Cafe to John Dory’s selling goods ranging from home-made biscuits and fudge to handmade wooden serving boards.
Amid the hustle and bustle of excited shoppers, the French sound of an accordion played out as the soundtrack to the browsing crowd as rich aromas of roasting coffee and sizzling samoosas luring hungry visitors by the dozen.
“The cheese selection was amazing – I could have spent all day tasting the different types,” said Jannicke van der Merwe, a holiday-maker from Nelspruit.
Another tourist from Johannesburg, Tom Cartwright, said that the variety of goodies on offer made spending his money very easy.
“The homemade ice-cream from the Scoop stand is incredible – the biscuits are next on my hit-list,” said Cartwright, who was visiting with his family for the school holidays.
Local coffee fundis Tyron Pedlar and Wendy Durow from mobile coffee business, Spill the Beans enjoyed keeping the shoppers energised with their freshly made lattes and cappuccinos.
“We are new to the area, having been here for just one month, and it is really exciting to have our business represented here at the market,” said Pedlar.
