South African food personality cooks for sugar association.
Tastefully flamboyant celebrity chef and dearly loved South African food personality, Jenny Morris, recently treated a group of journalists and sugar experts to a cooking demonstration at the tranquil Fairmont Zimbali Lodge.
This culinary adventure was a sweet treat that formed part of the South African Sugar Association’s annual nutrition media tour on October 21 and 22.
Morris, AKA the “Giggling Gourmet”, showcased her amazing skill and finesse in the kitchen by demonstrating how to make Italian meringue from scratch with the one magic ingredient we all love, cane sugar.
“The secret to a perfect sugary syrup is a sugar thermometer,” said Morris while working her magic.
Not one to cook alone, Morris invited the wide-eyed, food-loving journalists and SASA staff to help her cook. The result was chatter, laughter and heavenly deserts.
After learning from the “master”, everyone relished the opportunity to assemble their own sweet creations and, of course, eat them.
A book signing session where everyone got a free copy of one of Morris’ many popular cookbooks, “Cooking with Jenny Morris”, was the cherry on top to end off a candy-coated afternoon treat.
