PICS: Raising a toast to local business
New Ilembe Chamber president Xolani Gumede said his vision was to make the chamber relevant to all businesses in the region
The annual dinner of the Ilembe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held at the Fairmont Zimbali last week, was attended by more than 180 guests.
New chamber president Xolani Gumede said his vision was to make the chamber relevant to all businesses in the region, including informal traders who otherwise had no voice.

Guest speaker Terry Rosenberg, an Umhlanga developer and businessman, advised guests that vision and preparedness to take risks was essential for success in business.
“People think that to succeed, all you need to be is a businessman. That is not correct: you need to have a strong vision of what you want to achieve and you have to be prepared to put all your assets on the line to back yourself.”
In order for the country to succeed, he said, the business community had to find ways to create jobs and to remain positive in the face of political uncertainty.
