Restaurant review: Zucca

"Zucca has to be one of the premier al fesco dinning venues on the North Coast."

Zucca proves that you don’t have to be on the beach to have an amazing view.

Situated in Simbithi Eco Estate, this is for me one of the premier al fesco dinning venues on the North Coast.

I love the feeling of wide open space that the venue offers.

The waiters were some of the friendliest that I have come across. Nearly every single one welcomed and greeted us, I didn’t notice a manger but the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The menu has a wide selection with mostly Italian influence.

I had the calamari pasta that was very well executed, the calamari was the star of the dish which it should be, it was tender and the dish well-seasoned. It was by no means a complex dish but it didn’t have to be to be delicious.

We also had the Veal Limone, it was prepared beautifully with a lemon sauce that was one of the best I have had and complimented the veal superbly. But at R160 I felt it was a tad expensive.

For dessert I had the chocolate fondant. The presentation was a little average and could have been better, however the dessert was very enjoyable. It wasn’t over cooked and still extremely gooey and rich.

The restaurant also offers a great kiddies menu. Its great to have an upmarket restaurant that caters for children.

My two kids enjoyed a pizza, which they completely demolished.
