Nine things to do on the Coast this weekend

Planning your weekend? Here are nine exciting activities that you just don’t want to miss out on!
Friday, September 15
- Don’t miss the Botanical Society of SA KZN Coastal Branch’s Indigenous Plant Fair, in partnership with the city’s Sustainable Living Exhibition, at the Durban Exhibition Centre from Friday to Sunday at 9am to 5pm. Entry is free, and parking is free at the Centrum parking, access over the pedestrian bridge.

- Catch rising talent Maya Elizabeth Spector at the Sound Cafe in Ballito from 7pm onwards. Her voice has a texture that might be best described as an old soul, weathered by life and schooled by adversity, yet still so alive in vocal tone and bubbly in its expression. Entrance fee is R50 and VIP tickets are R200 each.

- The 22 Jump Street Ballito Junction relaunch party, Jump and Jam, will be held from 6pm till 9pm. Special guests include young Shark Dylan Richardson and surfer Sophie Bell. Saturday, September 16
- Take part in International Coastal Clean Up day at Zinkwazi, Tinley Manor or Blythedale beach from 7.30am to 11am. Message honorary officer, Liesl Venter, at 082 805 6131 to confirm your attendance.
- Make your way to the Tinley Manor Market at Numz Adventure Island and enjoy a classy, artisan and craft market experience in the country. Serving great coffee, delicious food and an array of interesting items to purchase, this is definitely a place to linger. Open from 7am to 1pm.

- Head down to Sugar Rush Park every Saturday for the Sugar Rush Market from 7.30-noon. Browse through fresh, home made, hand made, local and organically produced products to support our local growing and developing area. Contact Gill at gill@sugarrush.co.za

- Every Saturday morning Forest Hills German Shepherd Club Ballito holds dog training for all breeds at Townsend park, Ballito. Times are as follows: 8am advanced; 9.45am beginners. Contact Scott Farlam on 082 355 4636.

Sunday, September 17
- Hugely popular SA band The Parlotones will make their Ballito debut as they bring their array of hits to the lawns of Sugar Rush Park in Ballito for a day of family fun and live music. Gates will open at 1pm and Durban boy F R E D D Y – L will get the crowd warmed up with his folk melodies and deep vocals. Fans can get their tickets from ballitobeats.co.za or directly from webtickets.co.za. Tickets cost R150 for adults and R70 for children between 5-12 years of age. Kids under 5 are welcome for free.
