A 70’s surf jam and more on the Coast this weekend

From dog training to a 70's themed surf jam at Beach Bums, there is so much on the go this weekend!

Saturday, November 17

  • Head down to Sugar Rush Park every Saturday for the Sugar Rush Market from 7.30-noon. Browse through fresh, home made, hand made, local and organically produced products to support our local growing and developing area. Contact Gill at gill@sugarrush.co.za

 

  • Every Saturday morning Forest Hills German Shepherd Club Ballito holds dog training for all breeds at Townsend park, Ballito. Times are as follows: 8am advanced; 9.45am beginners. Contact chairperson Gaby Lyle on 082 925 6481.

 

  • The Lip Movember Surf Jam is set to take place at Beach Bums. Join Quiksilver and crew as they rock their Mo’s, dress up 70’s style and dust off the old retro surfboards. The event is creating awareness and raising funds for the Movember Foundation which focuses on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. R100 entry fee. Entries are limited. There will be some great prizes on offer including a limited-edition Spider Murphy/ Movember surfboard. Contact Olivia Jones Communications at 083 653 1720 or email media@oliviajones.co.za.

  • The Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre is all set to come alive as wheelchair basketball teams representing Angola, Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa and Zimbabwe will compete to secure the only African slot for the 2018 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships taking place in Hamburg, Germany in August. The opening ceremony will start at 5pm on Saturday, with the Amawheelaboys going against Morocco at 6pm. On Sunday the 19th, the Amawheelagirls will take on Zimbabwe at 1pm and the men will follow afterwards against Egypt at 3pm.
