A jazzy treat for dad this Father’s Day
This special Father’s Day treat will also give back to those who do not have dads as 40 percent of the ticket sales will be donated to the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.

Spoil dad with a delicious lunch while listening to the soulful sounds of the all-female jazz band Heels Over Head, at Ballito’s Sound Café this Sunday.
This special Father’s Day treat will also give back to those who do not have dads as 40 percent of the ticket sales will be donated to the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
Heels Over Head’s vocalist Thulile Zama said the Orphan Fund’s work is a cause close to her heart.
“We frequently organise performances in orphanages and at schools, but we decided it would be good to use our music to also make a financial contribution. I went to school on the North Coast and it is important for me to give back to the community that raised me,” said Zama.

This concert is also part of a special Cape Town – Durban collaboration tour presented by Heels Over Head as part of celebrating their ten-year anniversary.
Zama said they are proud to have stayed together for so many years and to keep creating opportunities for themselves. “It has been a great experience, at times enriching and at times humbling and we are planning to continue working on offering platforms for female musicians.”

Drummer Rebekah Doty said still going strong after 10 years is a great motivation to keep the band moving.
“We want to be an example to other female musicians and show them everything is possible,” said Doty.
The band has reached many a milestone over the years, from winning the Yamaha Young Talent Award in 2010 to independently releasing two music projects and being nominated for the SAMA Awards (2011) Best Contemporary Jazz Album early on in their career.
They also recently got an opportunity to go to the USA in New Orleans for the 2017 Essence Music Festival.
Zama and Doty from Durban will be joined by Cape Town based Nobuhle Ashanti on keys, Tracey Johannes on bass guitar and Arianna Carini on guitar.
Tickets cost R70 and can be booked by phoning 032 492 0088 or send a mail to info@soundcafe.co.za
