Braai your vleis and break a world record
Join in the fun and attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people braaiing simultaneously.

Light a fire and slap some meat on the braai alongside 924 other people and have your name added to the Guinness Book of World Records by taking part in the upcoming world record attempt for the most people braaing simultaneously.
Hosted on Sunday, September 23 in celebration of Heritage Day/National Braai Day (September 24) the South Africa Braai Army is calling on braai masters from far and wide to head down to Sugar Rush Park to attempt this world record.
“The current record is a mere 564 people which was achieved on Independence Day in the US this year. We are aiming for a minimum of 924,” said organiser Eugene Zietsman.
“On the day everyone will be required to light their fires, braai their meat and eat it all at the same time in order for us to stand a chance at breaking the world record.”
More than 50% of the profit will be donated to Round Table Ballito 221 and will be invested back into the community.

Early bird tickets for the event are now on sale and included in your entry will be an array of braai goodies, including spices, an apron, tongs, a braai and more.
Early bird pricing starts at R400 for an individual, R700 for 2 people, R1,200 for 4 people and R1,500 for a corporate team (4 people).
Although no children under 16 years old may participate in the actual world record attempt, kids are more than welcome to attend the day as this is a family event.
“We are still looking for potential sponsors, businesses, companies or individuals who may want to be involved in our day,” said Zietsman.
Businesses who would like to promote their products on the day or sponsor a team, or anyone who would like to host a stall or provide entertainment on the day can contact Eugene on 084 677 7799.
