Strawberrylicious festival goes big!
It was a ‘berry’ fun time at the Strawberry Festival.
The fields at Cappeny Estate were picked clean this weekend when more than 2500 festival-goers descended on the Ballito Strawberry Festival on Saturday, devouring the sweet red berries and enjoying entertainment galore.
Cappeny Estate head of marketing Yoliswa Gumede said there will be another strawberry festival next year if they have enough strawberries to support the crowds.

“Strawberry picking was the most exciting activity as everyone who came did pick some strawberries.
“The freshly picked strawberry tasting station also gave an added experience to the visitors, they got to taste their delicious fruit with either whipped fresh cream or melted chocolate,” said Gumede.

Visitors also got to feel the love in the Harvest House with some of Durban’s street food eateries, Berry wine bar, craft beer and live music.
Ana Smith from Durban who attended the strawberry festival for the first time said she is definitely coming back next year.
“This was amazing. It felt like I was in heaven. I just love the strawberries, they are fresh and delicious,” said Smith.
