Seven value for money restaurant specials on the Dolphin Coast

Everyone enjoys a night out – no cooking, no dishes, and taste-bud tingling food to wet the appetite.
Eating out can be an expensive affair however, so here are seven great restaurant specials available in Ballito and surrounds right now.
In no particular order. . .
7. Jack Salmon
Located in the Tiffany’s Centre in Salt Rock, Jack Salmon should be the first stop for sushi lovers on a budget.
They offer a fantastic half price sushi special all week long from 12-7pm. Adding to this awesome bargain, they also offer half price cocktails during the sushi special – definitely a must!
If sushi isn’t your bag, don’t worry as Jack Salmon also offers a two-course light lunch special from Monday to Friday where you pay just R98 for a two course meal you can choose from their set menu.
If, however, you want to wine and dine by night with the girls, get down to Jack Salmon every Thursday for their ladies’ nights which will see you enjoying half price cocktails and discounted champagne. There are also a variety of dishes, from prawns to chicken and curry to calamari for ladies with ladies (that’s right, don’t bring your hubbies because a man at the table will disqualify you from these yummy food specials).
Don’t worry too much about the men though, as every Saturday is date night at Jack Salmon. For just R358 per couple you can peruse their set, three course menu to enjoy a romantic evening that won’t break the bank.

6. Siggi’s
Everyone’s favourite German restaurant located on Basil Hulett Dive also has plenty of weekly specials.
Pop in to visit them on Tuesdays for a fantastic special on two of their famous weiner schnitzels for just R100.
Siggi’s also offers a delicious Sunday lunch roast and dessert special that includes a free glass of beer or wine for just R145 per person, definitely a bargain.

5. Hops
Hops restaurant is the place to be for specials aimed at men, ladies and pensioners between 3-6pm on the relevant days. Visit them in Edward Place.
Join them every Monday for the pensioners special where you will get 40 percent off all main meals.
On Thursdays men get 40 percent of all main meals as well as Castle Tank Beer at just R25.
Of course, no list of special days is complete without a spot for the ladies. Visit Hops on Fridays for 40 percent of all mains for the fairer sex as well as 50 percent of all wines, cocktails and cooldrinks.

4. Captain Tipsy’s
Captain Tipsy’s boasts not only a great sea view from their location on Compensation Beach Road a boat load of specials all week long.
On Mondays from 6-9pm come enjoy two burgers (beef or chicken), two sides (chips or salad) and two drinks (cooldrinks, wine or draughts) for just R160.
On Tuesdays from 5-9pm enjoy their extended happy hour (the rest of the week days the happy hour lasts from 5-6pm) where you can enjoy draughts at R25, SAB dumpies at R20, house wine at R15 per glass and amazing half price cocktails.
Wednesdays from 6-9pm at Captain Tipsy’s are ladies nights, where the ladies can get 25 percent off all main meals, half price cocktails and house wine at R15 per glass.
Visit them on Thursdays for an awesome 500g T-bone steak with your choice of sauce, sides and a drink for only R150; while on Fridays you can dig into a monstrous 1kg of ribs with your choice of side for just R160.

3. Saltyz on the Rocks and Bourbon Hub
Aside from happy hours and brandy specials every day, Saltyz also offers some pretty awesome specials for the hungry visitor.
Join them on Mondays and take advantage of their special on two burgers for a mere R50, definitely a steal.
Tuesdays are for those with a craving for some chicken as they offer a full chicken, chips and four rolls at just R120.
Wednesdays are buy one, get one free cocktail days and on Thursdays they appeal to the Durbanite in all of us by offering a free beer with the purchace of any of their famous bunnies.
Just above Saltyz lies Bourbon Hub, where you can get half price pizzas fresh out of their authentic wood burning pizza oven every Tuesday and buy one get one free every Sunday.
It’s not just pizzas though, as Bourbon also offers a 1kg rack of ribs for just R99 all week long.

2. John Dory’s
If your seafood game is strong then you will definitely want to head down to John Dory’s at Ballito Junction for their weekly specials.
Situated at the food court, their Wednesday half price sushi specials are a must.
Just be sure to get their early and get your order in quickly, as their sushi special is popular and draws a large crowd.
Another popular special is their “3 for R99” weekday sushi special. Available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am to 4pm, enjoy any three green plates from their sushi belt for only R99.
For those into the more traditional fish and chips grub, John Dory’s has introduced a Tuesday special of either fish and chips or chicken schnitzel and chips for only R49 each.

A glass of wine with a bowl of traditional Italian pasta. What could be better?
Could it be aperitivo ‘hour’ from 4pm – 6pm every day? Or perhaps an unbeatable lunch menu for only R78 on weekdays?
Situated at Ballito Lifestyle Centre’s Eat Street, Lupa Osteria is the perfect spot to indulge in that good ol’ Italian dish you’ve been craving all week.
Choose from a selection of pizzas, pastas and more while enjoying beer, wine, gin or cocktails at a ridiculously good price during their weekly happy hour specials.
For those wanting to pop in for a weekday lunch spoil, their R78 weekday lunch menu is a must-try.
