Hundreds of braaimasters prepare for Sunday’s world record attempt at Sugar Rush Park
It's all going down at Sugar Rush Park on Sunday - don't miss this epic party.
If you haven’t signed up yet for Sunday’s world record attempt for the largest simultaneous braai in history – you are going to miss one of the biggest “kuiers” KZN has ever seen.
Braaing is a central part of South African culture, and at the moment America holds the record with 564 people braai’ing at one time.
As of this morning, 520 people had already paid and registered to be part of this massive, meaty undertaking.
Spectators are welcome for free and there will be a beer tent, live entertainment, food and drink stalls and even raw meat on sale if you want to have your own braai while watching the record attempt.
In order to be a part of the record, you need to visit the Braai World Record Attempt Facebook page and follow the link to register.
The cost is R400 per entry, but for that price you are getting a whole lot back, including:
- a mini braai to take home with you
- braai tongs
- a braaimaster apron
- a cap
- your braai wors
- 1 litre coke
- a R1000 voucher for Wild Coolers
- a super snazzy lapel pin that you can wear with pride to show you were part of the largest simultaneous braai in history.

It is very important though, to note that this is not a bring and braai but an official world record attempt that will be monitored by auditors.
Therefore you need to register and pay to be a part of the record.
If you would like to braai in a team, it is R700 for two, R1200 for a team of four and R1500 for a corporate group.
Check in on the day will start at 10am with the braaimasters lining up at 11.45am and being counted by the Guiness World Record auditors before the action gets underway at 12pm.
For more information, visit the Braai World Record Attempt Facebook page, or contact Eugene Zietsman at 084 677 7799.
So what are you waiting for?
Celebrate Heritage weekend in the truest of Rainbow Nation styles and be a part of what promises to be a day for the books whether the record be officially broken or not.
