Is Ballito’s Tayne de Villiers the Alpha male?

A young fitness fanatic is on a mission to prove that age is just a number when it comes to what you love, as he vies for the title of Dranged Ultimate Alpha 2019.

Seventeen-year-old Tayne de Villiers from Ballito is up against some of the countries biggest, leanest and meanest fitness athletes who are all competing for the title by promoting the Dranged brand in the best way possible, both in and out of the gym.

But despite the stiff competition, Tayne is focused, determined and driven by the support of his family.

“Gym, CrossFit, rugby and running is not exercise to me, it’s my lifestyle.

“I was in Grade 8 at Glenwood and I weighed 50kgs. Being that small in an all-boys school is not great and all I wanted to do was play rugby, so I got up early every morning before school to train.

“In the evenings I trained all the boys in my dorm, setting up fitness challenges for all of us to grow and be the biggest and strongest Grade 8’s,” said Tayne who is now at Ashton College and plays first team rugby.

As he got older, Tayne, who also models for Boss Models, discovered the Dranged fitness clothing brand.

“My mom bought me my first Dranged clothing two years ago and I’ve been hooked on the brand since then.”

To be the Dranged Ultimate Alpha and the ambassador for the clothing range he wears, is what inspired him to enter.

Tayne has made it to the Top 12 aesthetics phase, where he has to display his willingness and determination to promote the brand in his area of training and in his lifestyle.

From here the top six will be chosen in November and judged on performance, before the final winner is selected in January 2019.

“I am so ready for the next stage and cannot wait to be pushed to the limit with the fitness challenges,” said Tayne.

Fitness is a top priority, and Tayne will spend next year following his dream of becoming a fitness model.

“Locally I model for Boss Models, but I have been in negotiations with White Cross Management in New York and California, so the future is looking bright.”
