WIN! Gear up for the Durban International Blues Festival
The fourteenth annual festival will run from 1 - 3 November and Australian guest artist Fiona Boyes will top the billing.
Make your way down to Zack’s at Wilson’s Wharf from November 1 as they play host to one of Durban’s most loved, annual music events, the Durban International Blues Festival.
The fourteenth annual festival will run from 1 – 3 November and Australian guest artist Fiona Boyes will top the billing.
Although originally scheduled to take place in September, the festival was postponed due to the release of funding which could not be guaranteed before the event.
“Blues lends itself to a different vibe,” says Tanya van Agthoven Marais, one of the event directors.
“It favours smaller and more intimate environments where the audiences are up close and personal and interact if they wish, with the performer now and again.”
This is why the venue has been so popular and the numbers just right.
Programme Director, Will Wallace has also made a few changes as time goes on and appreciates the quality of musicians – in this case blues musicians – that SA has to offer, Durban having an astounding calibre for this genre.

This year he has made a concerted effort to include a number of local home grown musicians as well as national artists.
Some of the artists CD’s and Festival Tee’s will be available for sale at the Mechanize table on show nights – bring a little extra for the splurge!
The Festival will also again be upholding its policy of mentorship and development with its annual Blues Development Workshop on November 3 at the Durban Music School from 1.30pm.
“Anyone who has an interest in Blues Music is welcome to attend and entrance is free,” said DIBF Development and Mentorship Director, Pinkie Mtshali.
Those who purchased tickets for the September dates, will be contacted by the Computicket Call Centre and either reimbursed or refunded.
Tickets unreserved, first come first serve seating are R150 and R160 at the box office on show night.
