Christmas Country Fair goes green

The annual fair, now in its 66th year, is the biggest fundraising event of the Christmas Fair Fund organisation.

It’s all systems go for the 2018 Christmas Country Fair as organisers put the finishing touches on months of preparation and planning.

This year’s Fair, held at Collisheen Estate on Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday November 1, will be the biggest ever, with 128 vendors selling their unique brands of upmarket, mostly hand made or locally sourced products.

Even the husbands need not fear. There is a “man cave” marquee dedicated exclusively to goods for gents. Leather work, funky T shirts, clothes and board games are some items to look out for.

In keeping with worldwide trends, this year’s Fair will focus on all things green and sustainable, including some marvellous floral fashion creations by local floral artists, Di Stewart and Jane Matkowich.

This feast of flowers will be displayed at the entrance to the main marquee.

To make the shopping experience in Collisheen’s beautiful gardens more pleasurable, the organisers have ensured that all stalls are under cover, and that there is little open space between marquees.

There will be special needs parking close to the entrance and a people carrier will provide a shuttle service around the parking area.

Last year more than 3000 shoppers visited the event, contributing to a record amount raised for KZN North Coast charities.

Tickets are R60 per person per day and will be available online through Quicket or at the entrance on the day. The price includes tea or coffee and a Christmas treat.

The Fair will run from 9am to 5.30pm.
