Early Christmas cheer for Dolphin Coast seniors

Local celebrity Patricia Lewis was also on hand to provide some entertainment.

Ballito opened its heart to the elderly for an early Christmas last week.

Aimee Toweel and a group of volunteers decided to invite residents of retirement homes on the Dolphin Coast for a spot of lunch at La Piazza.

“The elderly are often overlooked and neglected,” said Toweel.

“We just wanted to give them a day out with some fun and good food.”

La Piazza sponsored all the food and drinks for the dozens of golden oldies, while Ashton’s debutants and squires donated 100 bath towel gifts – not to mention the lovely entertainment from some of their students.

“The support from the community has been great,” said Toweel.

“Hopefully we can get together and do something similar for them next year.”
